Jim Davidson, The Strategy Guy/Principal

Jim Davidson, “The Strategy Guy”, earned an MBA in marketing from the University of Toronto (1995) and an MA in geography from Wilfrid Laurier University (1985). He has 20 years of business experience in Competitactics’ core service offerings. As R&D manager of St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company, a Fortune Global 500 company, Jim researched and examined the feasibility of potential business-to-business market segments, and developed long-term strategies for successful, new strategic business units. Jim is a frequent speaker at business conferences on the topics of competitive intelligence and strategic planning. In addition, he has designed and implemented customer satisfaction studies and mystery shopping exercises ranging from insurance to fast food, from tourist attractions to home appliances. To stay ahead of the curve, Davidson teaches business mathematics, statistics and market research at Seneca College. At Atkinson Faculty of Liberal & Professional Studies, York University, Mr. Davidson played a key role in experiential learning.

While a board member of the Professional Marketing Research Society, he directed the association’s 1994 national conference. In 2003, he organized and chaired an advisory group of academics and market research executives on behalf of responseTV, licensed by the CRTC to be Canada’s first and only interactive market research television channel. Recently, Davidson was the guest columnist in the January/February 2004 issue of Hardware Merchandising magazine, a Rogers Media trade journal. In Spring 2005, Jim sat on a panel to judge a business plan competition for high school students hosted by the Markham Small Business Enterprise Centre. This unique combination of applied and academic experience provides the Competitactics team with solid leadership.
